The Cruelty Free Foundation That Sells Every 3 Seconds
It was launched over 20 years ago and, today, it’s one of the best selling foundations in the world. Fabled Editor, Leyla Rudolf, explains why the clean beauty brand bareMinerals’ Original Foundation is still one of the best.
As a beauty editor, I have high expectations for my makeup products, especially my foundation. And though over the years, my wish list for what I want out of my base has changed depending on my skin’s needs – there are ingredients, textures and finishes I always look for. A foundation that offers brilliant full coverage but with a natural finish is the first on my wish list – I like my base to look like my skin – only better. Next, a formula that doesn’t fade by the time I’ve made my way into work (this is the dream) or even worse, sits in fine lines, making them look ten times worse. And recently, as I’ve become more conscious of what I’m putting onto my skin, I’ve also been searching for a cruelty free foundation that doesn’t contain a ton of ingredients, fake fragrance, or harsh chemicals too. Granted, it’s a lot to measure up to.
However, after a beauty editor friend told me she still used (and adored) bareMinerals Original Foundation, I had a lightbulb moment and immediately got one in to try. True to bareMinerals’ ‘clean beauty’ ethos, the pot of loose powder foundation is made with just five mineral-rich ingredients that actually improve your skin over time, (it’s meant to be so pure, you could sleep in it), rather than clogging it up with chemicals that your complexion just doesn’t need. And, as it’s a powder, you can gradually build it up with a brush, buffing it into the skin and then applying more depending on what sort of finish you’re after – it’s easy enough to achieve a sheer or full coverage. It may not be new but it reminded me that some beauty products become cult classics for a reason – and that, with the ongoing demand for clean beauty brands and cruelty free makeup products, bareMinerals Original Foundation is more relevant than ever and worth a re-visit.
