Ah January, the month for fresh starts, spas, resolutions, wellness, veganism, hibernation, clean beauty, mindfulness meditation, mindfulness exercises, new skincare routines, and a seven hundred and thirty odd hour wait until payday. Yay.

When I’m in serious need of some self care, I turn my phone onto airplane mode and add a glug of Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak to my bath.

Not ones to let actual cash come between us and our good intentions, Fabled by Marie Claire has whittled down our top four at-home spa beauty buys - all of them packed with feel goods as standard, minus the hefty price tag that comes with an actual weekend away.

Top of our list? ‘Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak’ , says Fabled by Marie Claire Executive Content Editor Gilly Ferguson. ‘When I’m in serious need of some self care, I turn my phone onto airplane mode, light a Skandinavisk HYGGE Candle and add a generous glug (3 capfuls) of Super Soak while the bath water is running. This de-stress Sunday ritual does involve 5 mins of prep (namely packing away my daughter’s bath toys, and closing the door) but once the scent of jasmine and rose fills the bathroom I may as well be flat out in a beach hut in Barbados.

Energising extracts of Birch, Juniper, Clove, Lavender, Thyme and Blue Chamomile help to still the mind, while the Sea Salt infusion works on soothing muscles - which should come in particularly useful for my health and wellbeing and/or London marathon training… If I ever get out the bath that is.’

From luxurious bath milks to sublime superfood-packed body scrubs and body oils that transport you to the Maldives (in your mind) thanks to these treats staying in has never felt so good, and all without a cucumber slice in sight. So, why not dim the lights, do a double cleanse, ask Alexa to pop on ‘Now That’s What I Call... Whale Music’ and treat yourself to the mother of all self care Sundays with one - or all - of these hero at-home spa buys:
