Whether you’re an acne sufferer – be it cystic acne, hormonal spots or adult acne - or simply suffer from hormonal breakouts, sometimes we all just want full coverage from our makeup.

If you love to camouflage spots and pimples, even when you’re at the gym, you may be wary of products designed to mask or correct your blemishes for fear that they’re making your acne worse by clogging up your pores.

Which is where non-comedogenic base products come in. With ingredients that are lighter and less oily than traditional make-up products, non-comedogenic buys won’t build up and clog your pores.

Worn with the optimum hairstyle to work out (naturally), the below products reduce breakouts, allowing your skin to breathe, even when you’re sweating it out at a HIT exercise class, spinning, running the London marathon and/or everything in-between.

Shop Fabled by Marie Claire’s best selling foundation and concealer cover ups for acne-prone skin, below, plus our smart guide to applying makeup (read: sweat-proofing your face) post-workout too. Plus do check out fitness queen, makeup guru and all-round beauty Millie Mackintosh’s hero buys, below:

1.Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer

Full coverage might sound like it would be heavy and clogging. Not this little guy. It’s oil-free and lighter than air. The full coverage comes from the fact that it can be built up, but it’s easily blended and has a blurring, soft-focus effect on the skin.

2. Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Liquid Makeup Cream

This has been developed with pimples, zits, blemishes, acne (whatever you want to call them) in mind. It’s oil-free (a godsend if you have oily skin), has salicylic acid (which acts as an antibacterial for inflammation) and so light you won’t feel like you’re wearing anything.

Even if you have oily skin, you still want to look glow, right?!

3. bareMinerals Original Loose Mineral Foundation SPF15

As it says on the tin, this foundation is created with minerals. They’re finely milled, free from oil, wax, fragrance and preservatives, meaning it’s super gentle and kind for sensitised skin. It will not aggravate your acne. Hooray!

MILLIE MACKINTOSH’S ‘GYM SKIN’ HERO BUYS
Even if you have oily skin, you still want to look glow, right?! Lancome’s Teint Miracle brightens your complexion and makes it look super fresh. The formula has a high concentration of water in it, so it goes on like silk and feels like a second skin yet with all the coverage you’d expect from a foundation.

‘I like to keep a natural look, while covering any imperfections using Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage High Coverage Concealer,’ says Millie Mackintosh (above) who has shared her struggle with adult acne on Instagram, (below):

‘After a workout I apply Skin Feels Good hydrating skin tint, for a healthy glow and add Cushion Blush for a cooling, refreshed-looking finish.’
